THREE WAYS TO CELEBRATE TEACHER SUCCESS
We were pleased to be invited to two ceremonies last week to celebrate some of the country’s most outstanding educators.

Teach First Awards

Katy Smith, our Company Secretary, attended the Teach First awards on Thursday 17 June at the Royal Geographical Society. Teach First is an independent charity launched in 2002 to bring excellent teachers into challenged secondary schools across the UK.

Hosted by Channel 4 news presenters, awards were presented by best selling author Joanna Trollope and winner of the first series of The Apprentice Tim Campbell. Strictly Come Dancing Judge, Craig Revel Horwood, also directed a special finale with children from DebdenParkHigh School in Loughton, Essex and led by Olivier Award Winner Leanne Jones.

"This event demonstrated the dedication and commitment of so many teachers and the outstanding work that is being done by the teaching profession, even in these difficult times and in the most challenging areas", said Katy, "and all of us at Teacher Support Network would like to extend our congratulations to everyone who received an award".

Times Higher Education Awards

Also last Thursday, Julian Stanley, Chief Executive, attended the Times Higher Education Awards ceremony in London. The event raised £3,000 for our sister charity, Recourse, which supports the adult, further and higher education sectors and for which we are extremely grateful.

Great Teachers

Help us to raise awareness about the important role that teachers play in our lives and in society. In advance of our new 'Great Teachers' campaign, we're collecting stories and statements from people who want to celebrate teachers. You can get involved by telling us about a great teacher who taught you, somebody who is teaching now, or comment about great teachers in general in Wales. Click here to share your thoughts on a great teacher you know of, or why teachers are great in general.
