Volunteer Opportunities
Whatever your skills, time or experience we have a way that you can help support teachers and their families. From a regular donation to organising your own fundraising event there are so many ways to get involved. We're looking for people to do a wide range of tasks from simply putting up posters in your school to people to run fundraising events, take part in challenge events or be a media volunteer. Don't just take our word for how rewarding volunteering can be, find out what our actual volunteers think here. What could you do? Tell us your story: If you've used our services, then let us know about your experiences. Real life case studies help us to spread the word about the work we do and let others know there's support available for them. Tell us your story here. Spread the word: Download or order our free promotional materials, put them up in your staffroom and/or distribute them locally. Order materials here. Join us online: Join our Facebook group, find us on Twitter or take part in an online forum on our website. Fundraising: Could you organise an event to help us raise some much needed funds? Past events include teacher coffee mornings, a raffle, sponsored events and table top sales, but we're looking at lots of new ideas too. For help and advice on organising your own event download our new factsheet(coming soon) Challenge events: Do you have place in the London marathon and want to raise money for us. Let us know by emailing [insert relevant address]. We'd also love to hear about any other challenge events you are taking part in and need our support to publicise. Email [insert address] to tell us what you have planned! Press work: We're looking for experienced people with good writing skills to help support our press team. Could you write regional stories for our e-newsletters and website? Create press releases to promote the work the charity is doing in your area? Or could you help write factsheets for our InfoCentre? Email Jason.harrison@teachersupport.info for more information. Giving talks: Our volunteers also help us to spread the word by going into schools to talk to teachers on inset days, visiting universities and colleges to speak to training teachers and attending local events. Teacher Support Network training workshops : We run a number of workshops around the country and are reassessing the way we deliver these. There may be opportunities to be trained to deliver workshops on topics such as stress and other wellbeing issues. You would ideally need some background in presenting/training and some knowledge of the subject areas, though training will be given. Administration support at Teacher Support Network HQ : We have plenty to do in our head office based in London and would like to hear from anyone who would like to help us out. From help with event planning, appeals and mailings we have lots of areas where you can get experience. Exhibition stand support at Union and other conferences : Do you have spare time to help us at the range of events we attend. It might be helping us out at one of the annual trade unions conferences or going along to a local authority event in your area. All these events help us to promote the work of the charity and are an invaluable awareness raising activity. TSN Champion Scheme : We want to raise awareness of TSN amongst NQTs and classroom teachers and we need your help. The champion Scheme is a national project with the objective of recruiting a member of staff from each school in the country to act as Teacher Support Network representative or champion to their colleagues. Copywriter for factsheets : We have over 2,000 factsheets that need regular reviewing and checking for legislative and other changes and this work can be completed from home. We will send you an agreed number of factsheets to review and you will monitor these for accuracy throughout the year. This could involve researching topics, writing, editing, sub-editing and proofreading. We need both English and fluent Welsh speakers. Welsh translation : We need educated speakers of Welsh, who consider themselves to have Welsh as their first language or to be completely bilingual in Welsh and English to help read, write, proofread and translate materials in Welsh. Because of the sensitivity of accurate translation, ideally you would have a formal qualification in Welsh or evidence of having taught it. Media or policy volunteers : We need people who can monitor key policy developments in government and other areas, monitor media comment, social networking sites and help keep us abreast of the external environment. You would work to a specific brief based on topics that particularly interest you or where you have expertise. We are also always keen to hear of teachers who would be case studies for their own experiences that we could use in printed materials, press releases and other media. If you are interested in any of the above activities simply complete the online form below. ***image3***
