Communication skillsParticipants will be learn more about the importance of not only words but also non-verbal communication.By Lucy Rowe
This workshop focuses on the concept of communication and how important it is to get it right. By looking at active listening, barriers and communication styles, you are able to see that communication is a complex process that defines the way that we interactive with others. The aim of this workshop is to help people communicate more effectively, identify areas where communication can be difficult and work our ways to overcome these. Through the use of case studies and group exercises, we will look at what communication is and why it is so important. We will also explore barriers to communication, how these can be removed, people’s own communication style and how it effects their interactions with others. We will also look at active listening, non-verbal communication and how these two aspects can help people understand each other better. Towards the end of the session we will ask delegates to set themselves some communication goals and look at the ways they can achieve them. With the help of working with a partner, they will assess how confident they are about achieving these aims and get advice from their partner as to the methods they have identified. By the end of the workshop we hope that delegates will be aware of the importance of not only words but also non-verbal communication and the way that they express themselves.
