Everyone says that your school days are the best of your life. Whether you agreed with this when you were sitting in double geography on a Friday afternoon or running cross-country in a blizzard, you obviously liked the place because you’re going back!
Our new website is aimed at helping make the transition back into the classroom as smooth as possible.
A few years ago, we developed our Starting Out Guide (pdf) for trainee and new teachers. It's still available in pdf format and just as loaded as ever with information to help you prepare for the challenges ahead. Our new website at www.newteachers.info takes that information online, to be accessed anywhere, and includes help and advice on managing your workload, classroom management, meeting the parents and staff relationships.

You’re beginning an inspiring and rewarding career where no two days are the same - and these are probably some of the reasons you chose to teach in the first place. Our website updates the book's information, but recognises that the profession is changing. That's why our guide is open to you to make suggested additions and comment on each section. You can also use it to discuss helpful tips with other teachers.
As a new teacher, you will be faced with challenges unique to the environment you are working in, where there are social as well as professional dynamics to consider. Some of these challenges cannot always be predicted and so the experience of every trainee and NQT will be different. Our site aims to reflect that experience. Head over now and bookmark the Starting Out Guide as a useful resource and be sure to make your additions as well.
