TEACHER SUPPORT NETWORK SHORTLISTED FOR TOP WEB AWARD
Nomintated for 'Best Use of the Web' category by Charity Times

Teacher Support Network has been shortlisted for the 'Best Use of the Web' category in the Charity Times Awards 2009! Our nomination comes as a result of the successes of the charity's website, which was relaunched in August last year.

The relaunch ensured that our website became an even more useful and easy way for teachers to access our services. As well as providing regularly updated news and information, the site acts as a gateway to the our InfoCentres, which contain over 2,000 factsheets on information useful to teachers, from advice on disruptive behaviour to tips on improving their CVs. Our online interactions with teachers increased from 17,539 in the Spring Term of 2008 to 40,192 in the same term in 2009 – an increase of 129 per cent.

In addition, our site enables teachers to establish contact with the charity's professional coaches and counsellors via its Online Support Services. You can access our Online Support services here, where you can ask our trained advisors any questions.

The site also contains a popular online 'Stress Test', which you can find here, and a link to enable teachers to sign up for Teacher Support Direct, the charity's weekly newsletter, as well as other useful information, such as their online Starting out Guide for newly qualified and trainee teachers and other practical guides.

The new site also saw the full coordination of services and information with the charity’s presence on four social network sites. You can find more information on our facebook, myspace and other sites, here.

Teacher Support Network Chief Executive, Julian Stanley, said: "We are very pleased to have received a nomination for an award from such a reputable publication as Charity Times. Going on to win would be an even greater achievement but being shortlisted itself is a reflection of the hard work and innovative spirit of our team.

"Our online services are a fundamentally important aspect of our work. Interactions via our website now amount to over 90 per cent of the total across our group. We believe it is crucial for us to remain at the forefront of delivery via the internet in order to best serve the magnificent profession of teaching."

The winners will be announced on Thursday 9 September 2009 at the Awards Gala Dinner, which will be hosted this year by the comedian Chris Barrie.
