PUPIL INPUT TO SCHOOL DESIGN FOUND WANTING
9 out of 10 teachers say learning environment affects pupil behaviour

By Lucy Rowe : 11 May 2009

Teacher Support Network have been quoted in a Times Educational Supplement article about the Building Schools for the Future programme.

The article talks about a study by academics at Coventry, Leicester, Northampton and Keele universities that found “pupils and teachers were given little opportunity to shape rebuilds or refurbishments undertaken as part of the £55 billion programme”.

Statistics cited from a Teacher Support Network and BCSE survey showed that “almost nine out of 10 teachers believe that the learning environment affects pupil behaviour; and almost one in three said the poor design of their schools affected their teaching.”
