WALES ON SUNDAY REPORTS ON VIOLENCE IN THE CLASSROOM

By Lucy Rowe : 10 May 2009

Teacher Support Cymru has been quoted in a Wales on Sunday article about violence in schools across Wales.

The article, published in April, discussed a dossier which was complied by the paper on daily attacks and threats that teachers and pupils are subjected to in the classroom.

The article stated that “there were around 90 cases of pupils caught in possession of a weapon at schools across the nation during the last academic year and hundreds more cases of pupils attacking other children.”

Teacher Support Cymru Chief Executive, Patrick Nash, was quoted as saying: “more needs to be done to protect teachers from violent incidents.”
