From the Teacher Support Network, www.teachersupport.info. SCHOOL ENVIRONMENTS: TAKE OUR SURVEY AND SEND US YOUR PICS!By Joe Williams : 25 February 2010
At Teacher Support Network, we know that the nature of a school environment can have a pronounced effect on the wellbeing or teachers and standards of education. Since 2007, we’ve been working with the British Council for School Environments (BCSE) to ensure school buildings better suit the needs of teachers and the school community as a whole and raise awareness across education of their importance. Together we’re launching a survey this week that will help us make the case for an improved focus on school environments. You can take the survey here. We also need your photos! If you're a teacher in the UK, we want to see your workspace photos. As part of our work with BCSE we are collecting snaps of rooms in schools across the country and displaying them online. So where do you unwind and prepare for your next class? Share your work environment here or head straight to our Flikr group here. A similar survey in 2007 helped us write the comprehensive report, ‘Just Another Brick in the Wall? How schools could benefit from better building investment’ which had a significant influence on policy. Levels of investment in school buildings currently remain very high, particularly as a result of the Building Schools for the Future campaign. We hope that by taking into account your experiences of your working environment through the survey, we can continue to campaign to make sure your views influence decision makers at a national and local level.
