New online coaching services for teachers launched

8 programmes designed to fit individual needs of UK teachers

By Joe Williams : 3 September 2008

Teacher Support Network today launched its new, confidential, online coaching services.

Over recent years, reports have consistently demonstrated that teaching is amongst the most stressful professions in the UK. The new coaching programmes are designed to help teachers address the many challenges which they face, including work-related issues, wellbeing, work-life balance and relationships at work.

The charity’s online services – the first of its kind in the United Kingdom - have been running for three years. The new programme is based on a detailed analysis of its successes and tailored specifically to the needs of teachers in 2008.

The coaching process will help solve problems in a manner that is challenging but non-judgemental, caring but professional and, most of all, effective; developing the confidence to take whatever action is necessary.

We have eight online programmes available. These themes are designed to help focus the programmes and, in our experience, they cover virtually any area that you would like to work with a coach on.

Teacher Support Network Coach Tom Lewis said: “My fellow coaches and I are really enthusiastic about taking part in these new programmes, which mean teachers can get the support they want at a time that fits in with their busy working lives. The service is confidential and, if it suits their needs, teachers can even remain totally anonymous.”

Teacher Support Network Chief Executive Patrick Nash said; “Over the last three years we have helped thousands of teachers through online coaching. These new services, based on our uniquely broad and in-depth experiences of supporting the profession, represent an even more effective way of giving teachers the help they need to deal with one of the UK’s most challenging and important jobs.”
