Exams: teachers feel the pressure, tooPressure on teachers has never been greaterBy Lucy Rowe : 21 May 2009
When exams come around, we always hear what a difficult time it can be for students, and there are many websites, TV programmes and leaflets out there to help and reassure them at this undoubtedly stressful time. We all remember how overwhelming it can be, whether you are taking your SATs, GCSEs, O-Levels or A-Levels but we often forget the effect exams can have on teachers, particularly because public debate becomes dominated by the anticipation of league table results and speculation that exams are getting easier. However, the pressure on teachers has never been greater as they strive to help pupils achieve academically and maintain high school performance rates – more than ever there is great emphasis being placed on exam results. If you are struggling to cope and would like some help and advice to get you through the exams period, read our factsheet on exam pressures here. If you would like support with stress or exam pressures you can call our free, confidential Support Line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 08000 562 561 (England), 0800 564 2270 (Scotland) or 08000 855 088 (Wales).
