Jenny's story"I was sick with stress and anxiety... and then I spoke to Teacher Support Network"by Sheree Abraham : 4 November 2010
“I had been at the end of my tether when aspects of work had become simply unbearable. I felt overwhelmed and as if things had got too much for me. Things had become so bad that I had been signed off work by my doctor and the prospect of regaining control of my professional life once I returned to work was causing me a tremendous amount of stress and anxiety.” Jenny decided to call Teacher Support Network. When Jenny called the Teacher Support Network Support Line, her call was answered by a trained coach who guided her through a series of counselling sessions. During these sessions Jenny and her coach explored the issues causing her stress and anxiety. Together they discussed all the career options available to Jenny and her coach helped her to understand the legal impact of her decision. Jenny's coach also encouraged her to contact her union for extra support and advice. Over the following months, Jenny's coach supported her recovery from stress and her phased return back to work, helping to reduce Jenny's stress and anxiety about returning to work. Jenny now feels totally on top of things. Her job is far more manageable and her phased return to work was a much more positive experience. Jenny no longer feels stressed or anxious about her work situation. Teacher Support Network can only continue to help people like Jenny thanks to your generous donations.
