New resources for line managersPractical information for managing and supporting people with experience of mental health problems.by Joe Williams : 23 June 2009
Shift, the government body which works against mental health discrimination, and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have both issued new resources to help line managers in schools. Shift's ‘Line Managers' Resource' is a practical guide for managing and supporting people with experience of mental health problems in the workplace. It has been developed to reduce the stigma and discrimination directed towards people with mental health problems. It is part of Shift's 'Action on Stigma' initiative aimed at supporting employers to promote good mental health and reduce discrimination. The resource is an update of their ‘Mind Out for Mental Health Line Managers' Resource'. You can access the resource here. The HSE's ‘Stress Management Competency Indicator Tool' has been designed in association with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and Investors in People. It is designed to help managers develop the skills to identify, prevent and reduce stress at work and reflect on their behaviour and management style. You can find the tool here.
