Tax Credit deadline approachesby Joe Williams : 23 July 2009
The deadline for renewing tax credits for most people is Friday 31 July. Tax credits are payments from the government. If you're responsible for at least one child or young person who normally lives with you, you may qualify for Child Tax Credit. If you work, but earn low wages, you may qualify for Working Tax Credit. If you are already paid tax credits, you must renew them by the deadline, otherwise payments will stop. You should have received a 'renewal pack' with all the information you need. It's possible to renew over the phone. You can contact the Tax Credit Helpline, which is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm, on 0845 300 3900 or textphone 0845 300 3909. If you're calling from overseas you can also contact the Tax Credit Office on Tel + 44 289 053 8192. You can find more about tax credits on our factsheet, here, or visit the Government's Revenue and Customs website here. |
