Greater support needed for teachers facing false allegations

26 October 2009—Results from a recent survey suggest that 1 out of 4 teachers has had to deal with false allegations by pupils. There must be far greater anonymity for accused teachers. Headteachers and local authorities must have had sufficient training to conduct a prompt and proficient investigation, and any police involvement must bring with it a calm perspective on how to proceed. Teacher Support Network strives to ensure that national, local and school level policies all help to improve teacher health and wellbeing. In doing so, we aim to improve school performance overall. By the very nature of Teacher Support Network’s services, we are the first to hear about the problems that teachers face. We see it as our responsibility to act on that information to support teachers on a wider basis, as well as one-to-one. More
