From the Teacher Support Network, www.teachersupport.info. SHARE YOUR TIPS ON TIME MANAGEMENT AND WORKLOADby Vicky MacDonaldThe Scottish Funding Council recently released intake targets for Initial Teacher Education Providers, showing an overall 40 per cent cut in places for 2010-11 compared with the current academic year. Cuts are reported to have been made in response to the evidence that many newly qualified teachers have been unable to secure employment after their probationary year. However, whilst the Government have announced that recruitment will be monitored, there is still a chance that schools will be under-staffed, causing more workload for existing staff. So, how can you prepare for this? Well, one practical way is to share good practice with other teachers, so send us your best tips and pearls of wisdom on time management and dealing with demanding workloads. What works for you? We’ll put this together in a factsheet for everyone to see, so the more people who contribute, the better it will be. You never know, you might learn something new too. We’ll send a box of biscuits to the best entrant. Send your tips to vicky.macdonald@teachersupport.info by Thursday 18 March 2010 to be in with a chance of winning those biscuits.
