Volunteer with us!by Andrea Vaughan
We've got lots of different opportunities available for volunteers; it's not just about rattling tins for donations, but using the skills you've got to help us as a charity to succeed together. There's a brand new project in Wales to recruit volunteers to raise awareness of the work that Teacher Support Cymru is doing there and also to raise some much needed funds, so that we can help even more Welsh teachers in need. Our volunteers will receive induction training, on-going support and help us to set up 'Friends of Teacher Support Cymru' groups all over Wales. What could you do? Help us set up our 'Friends of Teacher Support Cymru' groups: We're looking to recruit volunteers across Wales to help us set up 'Friends of Teacher Support Cymru' groups to help support the charity in each county. If you think you could help us with this or would like to know more please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Andrea Vaughan by email here or on 01443 827632.
Tell us your story: If you've used our services then let us know about your experiences. Real life case studies help us to spread the word about the work we do and let others know there's support available for them. Tell us your story here. Spread the word: Download or order our free promotional materials, put them up in your staffroom and/or distribute them locally. Order materials here. Join in online: Join our Facebook group, find us on Twitter or take part in an online forum on our website. Fundraising: Could you organise an event to help us raise some much needed funds? Past events include teacher coffee mornings, a raffle, sponsored events and table top sales, but we'll be looking at lots of new ideas too. Challenge events: We've got places in the Edinburgh Marathon and the Silverstone Half Marathon. If you'd like to run on our behalf or have a place already and would like to fundraise for us or even if you'd like to do a different event (it doesn't have to be running!), let us know here. Press work: We're looking for experienced people with good writing skills to help support our press team. Could you write regional stories for our e-newsletters and website? Create press releases to promote the work the charity is doing in your area? Could you use your Welsh language skills to help us reach more Welsh teachers? Or maybe you can help us write factsheets in English and Welsh for our InfoCentre? Giving talks: Our volunteers also help us to spread the word by going into schools to talk to teachers on inset days, visiting universities and colleges to speak to training teachers and attending local events. Bilingual speakers are also needed. Get involved It's easy to get involved. All we ask is that you can give us a few hours a month and we will support you in your role as a volunteer. You don't have to be a teacher to be a volunteer with us; all you need is an interest in education. Our Welsh volunteers will receive full induction training and will be supported throughout by our Volunteer Coordinator, Andrea Vaughan. To get involved and get your application form or to find out more, contact Andrea by email here or call 01443 827632.
